My Diary

Thursday, 20th March 2009
I felt very tired for the whole day. I didn’t sleep well last night due to my nose block.
During class, I learned about currency options and netting for Advanced Finance Management. Since the college reopen for this new semester, CK and SL became Permanent United Nations as they didn’t attend Dr Wong’s classes anymore. Dr Wong noticed them and started to take attendance. I thought Monica would be one of the members in PUN but she started to attend this lecture class and I saw her today.

After the class, I had Moral class. There were no tutorial questions to be discussed throughout the course. We just have to spend one and half hours to listen presentation from our own classmates. Today, HKian, HKim and KXin presented on the topic “Discrimination”. There slides were attractive as they put in some pictures, animation and comics. While they presenting, I chat with AQ about my brother who is in Kota Kinabalu now. He represented KL for table tennis competition in K.K. His team mates are NNgee, Nigel, Nicholas and Ah Weng. Their team managed to obtain third placing; NNgee and Nigel obtained first runner up for double event. My brother lost in doubles and Single.

After Moral, we had discussion for FDM but just CK, YPeng and me. KLung wanted to go back to his hometown, AQ has not started her writing for our assignment so she went back to complete it while SL went back. Actually, there was not much issue to discuss. Once they started the discussion, I was just listening to their ideas and comments from the beginning to the end. It seems like I was doing nothing. So charm… L However, I did my part for finance and ethics. If my work compared to theirs, it likes a very big gap. They put a lot of efforts in it as they did their research here and there. Honestly, I always admired them as they were knowledgeable. I wish I could be like them. Since I could not give my helping hand, I wish to learn something from their ideas and comments.

CK commented on my part for 15 minutes before attending my tax lecture class. For my ethics, I thought Luis Zubino started the volunteer programme but it was organised by his staff. I interpret wrongly. Understanding the English words seems difficult for me. I tried my best to do my part. Haiz.. Besides, the food product was not explained in an ethic manner so CK said he would do the amendments for me. How I hope that there is no changes in my parts. Anyway, it’s good to have someone to correct my work. In this way, I could learn from my mistakes. Basically, I finished my part. During discussion with CK, I found out that my mechanical pen went missing from my pencil box. Then, I remembered that AQ borrowed mine. Luckily, CKwas kind enough to ‘lend’ me his. Did you notice the word ‘lend’? Yes, I was not sure whether he said he gave me one as he has four. But then, I inserted 3 sticks of pencil nip without having second thought. How careless I am! I realized this when I had tax lecture.

For this small mistake, I could not concentrate in my class. Anyway, I decided to return mechanical pencil to him once I get my one. About tax, Mr Andrew taught us about the business income and expense.

Ok.. That’s all. Apart from that, there were some jokes. Jun Loong mentioned about KLung’s name. Some teachers pronounce his as ‘Lung’ in English. Haha.. Sound funny, right? Our group always have a CEO, Chairman, Secretary, NED… We always named ourselves differently. CEO is CK, Secretary is SL, NED is YPeng, Chairman is KLung, AQ and me are directors. Although KLung is Chairman, he said himself as those people who arrange chairs. Haha..

Something happened to WLun. He told us that yesterday was his bad day. His car was spoilt so he wanted to repair it. (No wonder I didn’t see his car parking in front of the college) He wanted to make a call but no batteries. Then, he wished to withdraw money from ATM. At that time, it was raining so he ran to the canteen 2. To his disappointment, one ATM was spoilt and another ATM was not able to withdraw to money. Not only that, a person fetched him to withdraw money from CIMB bank at TBR. To his surprised, CIMB was no longer in TBR. I heard that Koh Lung helped him in the end.
Ok.. That’s all. See you.

During holidays..

During this holidays, what did i do? Eat, sleep, watch tv, play games, going out, etc... for whole month.. But i still have coursework and homeworks..
My coursework is to read books.. The world is Flat, The art of war-sun tzu, STarbucks experience, Blue Ocean Strategy and one more..(forgot the name)
THe world is Flat contains 571 pages and the writing is small size.. I read until I wanna sleep..
Haha.. But, the book is quite useful. It told me about the current issues we are having.. Now, everything is using IT. The importance of IT for all the industry.. IT helps us to obtain all the information that we want.. Companies can outsource their call centers to India.. About India, I thought that they only expert in medical field.. after reading the book, i realised the development in India is very rapid.
For art of war, I just read the book relating to biz.. This book is quite interesting.. About the strategy of war to implement in biz..
Starbucks experience-- relate to how they conduct their biz using 5 principals :
1) Make it your own
2) Everything matters
3) Surprise and delights
4) Embrace resistance
5) Leave your mark
Starbucks is a successful company.. they treat their employees very well and put them on the 1st position..
BLue Ocean Strategy is about the new biz strategy..
Explaining the types of strategy such as 4 action framework, strategy canvas..
I spent 2 weeks.. but i have not finish yet.. Feeling tired sitting on the floor..

Last week, my ACCA results came out.. Everyone was anxious for what they obtained..
As for me, I'm quite satisfied.. I failed one out of 3 subjects.. Actually, I thought i would pass one subject.. there are 4 classmates passed all.. They are superb.. One of them may obtain book prize.. He is our genius guy.. Anyway, congratulation to them...

After next week, I have to go back to college. This would be my last sem..
Ok.. that's all..

During CNY

Today is the last day of CNY.. So how did you celebrate during CNY?
For me, My mum and I went to visit my mum's siblings in Serdang. My grandma and grandpa already passed away 2 years ago. I really miss them. I missed my grandpa's accent. He talked cantonese like a singing tone (it's a Gou Chow Style). I think I would not able to find another person who can talk like his slang. None of them could learn from him.

There were kids everywhere in the house. Every year there is a new baby. Haha.. The atmosphere was full of crying babies. Anyway, I just see them once a year. Not only have babies in the house, there were a few of cousins about my age. However, I don't really get close to them. It sounds like we were out of touch. I just talked with my elder cousin sister, Pui Yee. She went to UK last year and took a lot of pictures. Wonderful buildings, variety of flowers, etc... She was studying in TARC too. How I wish that I could go to UK this year but no financial support. Haiz..

On the next day, Cynde, my brother and I went to watch a movie, "ink heart" in Mid Valley. It's a fantasy stories. How can a person read a storybook and appear real things from the book?? Haha.. Anyway, fairy tales... Do you really think Cinderella, Snow white, Sleeping beauty would live happily ever after?

On the following day, I organised a house visiting trip. We gather at Sfoo's house at 10am. Those who join this gathering were ksoon, ksheng, kyeow, team, ykee, des, myee, cfai, khoe, sfoo and wleong. Did i miss anyone?Hope not. Hehe.. After that, we went to Des's house. We played cards.. While they playing, I visited yhui's house. Pinky was happy to see me.. It jumped on me.. Haha... I didn't see yhui for a long time and we chat for 2 hours. I'm happy that she could get an internship. At night, we went to have our dinner in Syabu Syabu. After dinner, they went to my house. Almost every year, they would come to my house. Wonder why? They can take this opportunity to play table tennis.. Last year, william played with me.. We really had a great time.

On the fourth day, sis Yuen visited my family and we had our lunch at lot10 by using vouchers. Haha.. I felt lucky that we could get those free vouchers by buying YTL's shares. So to those who are interested, buy this YTL's shares. For your info, I'm a shareholder as well. Haha.. While having lunch, ksoon told me that he wanted to play ping pong at night. So i said ok..
At night, I waited for him and others to come... I knew they would 'fong fei kei'... But then, only sfoo arrived at my house and I had no choice to follow him. Vwai, yling, wleong and ksoon already reached Cowboy. Vwai and yling just came back from Perak.

On the 5th day, I joined ypeng's group for house visiting. I wish to see snee and wteng as both of them are working now and no longer study in TARC. After that, I followed wleong's gang to csheng's house. His house looked new... There were a collection of mini cars.. csheng taught us to play 'sam ka' manjong. csheng's parents invited us to join them for dinner. However, sfoo forgot to bring his wallet so we ended up to have our dinner.

On the 6th day, I learned to play gimrany(spelling correct?) cards with my family. My mum was very good. She always the winner. My brother was better than my mum. He could win a few sets straight although he is a new learner. Haha.. I had a great fun with my family...

Ok... that's how I spent my CNY for a week.

Happy New Year

Hi..
I having a new semester.. This is my second semester. I'm taking 4 subjects-Financial Management, Advanced Tax, Moral and Financial Decision Making(FDM). I will be having FDM and Moral assignments.. Thus, my lecturers are going to prepare us for the progressive test. So, I have to start my studies..no more tv, outings, etc... Haiz.. Luckily, this test will be held before the Chinese New Year.
I just celebrated my Christmas with my family. We just went out to have lunch in Lot 10 as we have vouchers... (mean getting free meals) Haha.. We also visited the Pavilion. Pavilion's area was used to be my mum's school-bukit bintang girls school. So there were full of memories. It quite pity that the area became a shopping centre. How i hope that our govn will build something which is useful for public. Haiz.. Wasting our money to build such unnecessary things and might become white elephant one day.
We are anxious to welcome a new year 2009 so counting by 2 days to go. Haha... I know that people like to go count down in Merdeka Square, Bukit Bintang, the Curve, etc...
Some afraid that 2009 is not a good year due to our global financial crisis. Hopefully there won't be lots of retrenchment. For me, I also afraid that I would become an unemploy after my graduation. Anyway, I still have things to worry currently. My main focus is my studies..
Ook... Wish u happy new year 2009

Church Camp in Country Heights

I just went to Young Adult Camp which organised by SIBKL (church) for 3 days 2 nights in Country Heights, Kajang, KL. It costs RM 150. The purpose of this camp is to learn and understand more about God.

The place is filled with greenery scenery and there are many lakes. However, the water in the lakes are contaminated as it looks like "teh tarik' or like Klang river. Haha... There were lots of people joining this camp including new member like me (I was invited to join this camp by my lovely person).

We have games on the first day. We were divided into 10 groups. I was in group 8. My team consists mostly girls. We were given our very first task to name our group choosing Malaysian food. J was our team leader. He is a very good English speaker (but he is a 'banana') and has a powerful voice. He create a poem for our team as follows:
We are fast
We are hot
Losers we are not
We are Malaysian
We are truly Asia
We are Nasi Pataya
So we named our team as Nasi Pataya. Actually Nasi Pataya is not Malaysian food, is Thai. Haha... After that, we need to do some action while reading out poem. There were team named as Cha Kuew Teow, Penang Laksa, etc...

I remember that one of the games is require us to use our body to do alphabets for the word- AWAKENING. Below is a picture of me doing alphabet 'A'. We were the first to complete all the tasks so we considered to be number 1. However, this will be accumulated as points for second day.

At night, we sang songs about God. We also did some action. Haha... Look at the picture below.

After that, pastor Victor gave us a sermon. It relates to our life to Moses's story. This story is when God chose Moses to do tasks but Moses kept avoiding it by giving all excuses. So in our actual life, we always kept avoiding God when He assigned us a job such as spreading good news about God.

On the second day, there were games such as human boggle, passing balloons, passing worms and egg york (it's fear factor for those afraid of worms), using mouth to search fake centipedes in the flour and another game like 老鹰抓小鸡. It's really exciting and interesting. They took the whole group picture. Look below.

At night, we had a forum session. This forum is to discuss questions that we don't understand about God.

On the last day, pastor Victor gave us a talk about our death. Planning our death may sound like it is too scary, right? Haha...

Before we had our last lunch together, we took pictures according to our own groups. By the way, my team emerged as 1st runner up. My team mates were energetic and there was team spirits so that's why we could win. Haha.... Anyway, I'm happy to know them and be their team mates. Hopefully they still remembered me after this camp. I may not attend SIBKL Church because I always go to Trinity Methodist Church. Anyway, wish them best of luck in their jobs and studies.

My exam result...

Some people just started their new semester, having exams, holidays or working to rush for the deadline. As for me, my internal exams finished one month ago. Today is my course mates big day. Wondering why I said so? It's because all of us know our results.

Besides, today is also my last day in college. No more revision classes for us. Starting from tomorrow, I have to concentrate my ACCA this Dec. So, Business Analysis is our last lectures which is conducted by Mr Chee. He didn't teach us much because everyone is exciting and nervous to know their results. No one has mood to attend his class. We are lucky to have such a considerate lecturer as Mr Chee released us earlier for us to check our results.

Around 9.30am, most of the students rushed to the library and they used the computers. So the computers were fully used by AFA-advanced diploma financial accounting students to check their results. I could see their faces that they really wanted to know their results. For me, I dare not check it in the library, instead I went to return my book to library.

For the 1st time in my life, I never felt that there is no confidence at all. Revealing my results like using a knife to cut my heart. Honestly, I did my exam badly so I might not able to accept my results. I remembered that I have problems for sleeping during my exams period and I even felt sick. How do I overcome this exam phobia? Could someone tell me please?

Since I don't have confident, I went to have lunch with my classmates. I heard from them that a few of them failed one or two subjects. My classmate, YP is the excellent student. She was sad that she wasn't able to retain her standards. At least, she passed all the subjects. However, I had 2 classmates who were smiling to us. This is a signal that they achieved good results. Yeah...they got an A's for professional accounting. After hearing from them, my feelings kept dropping. They kept on persuading me to check my results but I prefer to check it on my own because I will be ready to see it on my own. Although there is no one will lend me their shoulders, still I wanted to do this myself.

After attending my corporate reporting class, I decided to check my results in cc. On my way to cc, my heart started beating fast. Before this, I kept on praying for my results. Hopefully I could just to pass the exams. But if it turned out to be not my expectation, I prepare to accept the fact whole heartedly. So the very minute I key in my id number and password, my heart kept beating faster and non-stop. So what is my result?

Wanted me to reveal the fact? Ok... I PASSED all... I couldn't believe myself that I passed all.. Although I don't get any A's, I'm satisfy what I obtain as I'm not those smart people. I kept saying thanks to God. He really helped to go through this and I'm happy with it. So now, I can't wait telling my parents about my results. Haha.. Thanks again to God.

Ok..I need to sign off.. I might not able to update my blog because I don't have time and have to prepare for another 'war'. This time the war is tougher in Dec. Oh..yeah... I have camping this weekends. Haha.. I could go with a happy mood.

Before leaving, let's me wish my Indian friends, "Happy Deepavali". Tata...
